MSI’s new RTX playing cards go retro with cooler designs
Contemplating how usually I’ve needed to write about tariffs in the previous couple of months, it’s no shock that there’s a wave of lovingly retro {hardware} popping out of Computex 2025.
Like SilverStone, MSI is hopping on the retro bus with new GPU designs, marrying new RTX 50-series chips with coolers that appear like they’re straight outta the aughts. PCWorld’s Adam Patrick Murray received to examine them out on the present flooring.
The RTX 5060 Ti “Twin Frozr 2 Retro Version” might be the extra sensible of the pair, with twin followers and an uncovered heatsink, and will match into nearly any gaming PC construct with minimal points. However the extra beautiful of the pair is the RTX 5070 Cyclone, with a single fan dispersing warmth by way of a large copper heatsink. It’s a mode you would possibly keep in mind from the GTX 400 sequence, waaaay again in 2010. The one bow to modernity is an LCD display screen hidden on the inside hub of the fan.
Sadly, these designs are each one-offs, and MSI isn’t committing to constructing them for retail merchandise. If you wish to see it in actuality, you’ll have to let MSI know and GET IN THE COMMENTS.
