Discord is making public messages searchable. This is what to do

However after studying Discord’s weblog put up extra intently, I’m not frightened… but. Discoverable servers are supposed to be discovered publicly, in spite of everything, and there’s potential good in exposing what’s being mentioned on them. Boards have grow to be much less common, and Reddit is constant to show away from search-driven site visitors.

(Don’t find out about you, but when somebody figures out an obscure repair for an issue with a printer, I wish to discover it after I Google for an answer. I’m already going to be grumpy as heck.)

Extra importantly, Discord is permitting each customers and server house owners to choose out of the indexing. Assuming every thing works as marketed, this strategy is a surprisingly good stability between public discovery and privateness.

Right here’s how one can tweak these settings.

The way to flip off search indexing for discoverable Discord servers

In case you’re the proprietor of a discoverable server, open Server Settings. Close to the underside of the left-hand navigation menu, discover the part with the neighborhood settings. Select Net Presence.

(In case you don’t see this selection, your server is probably going set as a non-public or neighborhood server. You possibly can test the standing in Group Overview.)
