Ruchir Arun on why Vikrant Massey was good for Musafir Cafe

Adapting Musafir Café, creator Divya Prakash Dubey’s common novel, wasn’t about recreating each web page on display screen. When directing the love story’s display screen adaptation, Ruchir Arun knew he needed to protect one side over every thing else — the honesty that made the novel resonate with readers.

“When my author and showrunner, Sharanya [Rajgopal], first introduced the mission to me, what struck me first have been the characters’ names — Chander, Sudha, and Preeti. These old-world names immediately made them really feel like folks I had recognized all my life. I needed to make sure that these characters’ simplicity and the authenticity of their relationships translated completely to display screen,” recalled Arun.
